Release Dates for New Gears and Halo Map Packs
Earlier this week, Microsoft announced the release dates for the Gears of War 2’s Snowblind Map Pack and Halo 3’s Mythic Map Pack. The Snowblind Map Pack will be released on March 31 and the Mythic Map Pack about a week later on April 9. Both map packs will cost 800 Microsoft Points.
The Snowblind Map Pack consists of three brand new maps and a remake of Fuel Depot from the original Gears of War. Not content with just one announcement, Epic also rolled out the third title update for Gears of War 2. One of the major changes in this update is the implementation of a new ranking system that is experienced based with 100 levels of experience. Another major change is the addition of bots in public matches when someone quits. There are also numerous exploit fixes and balancing issues — you can read the whole list of changes here.

The Mythic Map Pack will release with three new maps; Orbital, Assembly, and Sandbox. Sandbox is the map that has most people excited. It takes the openness of Sandtrap and the limitless Forge possibilities of Foundry and adds a couple of surprises to the mix. Sandbox is a tiered map with three complete forging areas. Players can create maps on the grid in the sky, on the ground, and in a crypt area.
Fans of these two AAA franchises have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks.
